20th November 2003
We had a good turn out to see our popular guest
Marie Little.
01Paul was going to start the night but
Elaine gallantly stepped in when he
chickened out. Anyway, it is not the same if Elaine doesn't do the
first floor spot.
She did a particularly good version of "The King's Shilling".
02 George made sure that we were all awake with a couple of
French tunes on
his set of cornmuse pipes.
03 Stan and Eve finished the first set of floor spots with
"Don't let your sons grow
up to be Cowboys" and "Careless Love". Nobody joined in with the
yodelling though!
07 & 08 Marie
was right on form. A 45 minute first spot went like 45 seconds!
04 Ian & Les, who will be our guests as Cuervo Nights
in March, started the
second half.
05 Pauline borrowed Ian's guitar to play a couple of superb
songs.
06 The floor spots were finished off by Paul & Avril ("I'm
not drunk: I'm always
like this, Officer"). A song called "Shrinking Violet" was particularly
good.
09 & 10 Marie
was back with a second set packed with requests. She even
managed to remember Archie Fisher's "The Shipyard Apprentice" which
she hadn't sung for 15 years.
11 Ho Hum! Another late finish but we couldn't let her go
without just one more!
