Cutty Wren Folk Club
Christmas Party
18 Dec 2003
1.
John had asked some of us to bring some food and between us we put on
a good spread.
2.
There was a good turn out…
3.
Friends old and new…
4.
Some already in the party mood…
5.
Anticipating…
6.
The raffle????
7.
John Taylor (The Boss) was in charge of proceedings and determined to
get a sausage roll into each vegetarian.
8.
Elaine started off. She is not doing an unaccompanied song with her
finger in her ear: she is just posing for the camera!
9.
Christmas or no, you are not getting away without some jolly 2/4
bourées from George. No escape; you can hear them in the bar!
10.
Our resident singer-songwriter, Marty Nesbitt, had a new song for our
Christmas celebrations.
11.
Betty smiles for the camera before launching into some seasonal tunes
on her accordion.
12.
Trevor Lister is presented with the bill for the food.
13.
Ann’s turn.
14.
Poetry from Brian Withers.
15.
A scene from yesteryear. Regular from the early days of the Wren, Bob
Fortune teamed up with “J. T. “ on fiddle.
16.
Oops! Lost it!
17.
Saucy Jane Grimwood twirled her truncheon while singing “I’m a
Lady Policeman, tra-la, tra-la, tra-la”.
18.
Tony Leonard got into the swing of things, and so did his hat!
19.
Time for some old-time country picking from Stan Gee.
20.
Stan was then joined by Eve.
21.
Ron Keedy decided to show Stan how to really play bluegrass…
22.
While his wife, Pat, crooned “Santa Baby” into Arthur Oakley’s ear.
Arthur got… “pins and needles”…
23.
Then Arthur got his reward.
24.
Arthur Jones made it a Dylan Christmas.
25.
No, Geordie does not have earache. He always sings like that!
26.
Jim Wright braved the dusty bits and played a nice little Jazz
number.
27.
“Does that mean I put my finger there?” Ian doesn’t need any help to
play his guitar. He’s only kidding.
28.
It’s Quervo Nights! Les and Ian rock it out! (Someone said Les was in
disguise but we hadn’t noticed.)
29.
Pauline (Ian’s wife) showed him how it’s done!
30.
Mike Smith, our resident magician, spins a different kind of magic.
31.
Tony and … try a double act.
32.
Mick Madden checks his watch to see if it is a ballad or a quick one-verser
before the bar shuts.
33.
Avril and Paul add some contemporary magic.
34.
Arthur Oakley blasts it out with that magnificent voice of his.
35.
Yup! It’s a triple Santa Hat.
36.
Last but not least – the one and only – Mike Gardiner.
37.
One more from Mike to finish a truly great evening. |
