Cutty Wren Folk Club
1st Jan 2004 - Hangover Party
Guest: Geordie Keith
THE SOUTHBANK GRUNTERS RIDE AGAIN! Keith was joined by Jo and Roy Duffield for a trip down Memory Lane.

1.        Stan Gee sang the first song of 2004 in his usual laid-back style.

2.       Just in case we were lulled by Stan’s country blues, George woke us all up with a couple of tunes on his cornmuse bagpipes. Oh! The pain!

3.       Geordie Keith entertained us for the next half hour or so with a mixture of songs…

4.       …and stories. Not a dry seat in the house!

5.       Tony started off the second half with Wild Rover – a blast from the past!

6.       “J. T.” gave us a great blues number.

7.       Then it was Mike Gardiner.

8.       Brian Withers recited a couple of poems with a New Year feel.

9.       Tony Aked, visiting from the cultured South, played a couple of tunes on the harmonica.

10.   Tony Baylis abandoned his guitar and sang unaccompanied.

11.   Nice to see Trevor Taylor again. He seems to be enjoying his Music Hall song as much as we were.

12.   With Pat on autoharp and Ron on guitar, it was time for some more country music from the Keedys.

13.   Mick Madden did some complicated finger work on his banjo: then he played it!

14.   Stan and Eve brought the floor spots to a close with some easy listening country music. You can’t get more relaxed than that, Stan, without falling off your chair!

15.   THE SOUTHBANK GRUNTERS RIDE AGAIN! Keith was joined by Jo and Roy Duffield for a trip down Memory Lane.

16.   Great singing: just like the old days.

17.   Just time for one more from the Grunters.
